A Thursday Interruption: Shawn Colvin, Salt N Pepa, Michael Franti, and Salt Fish Girl

Yeah, so I’m not sure why Lilith Fair’s 2010 anniversary has Ke$ha in it. IN FACT I AM KINDA PISSED ABOUT THAT ACTUALLY.

I think the video’s a cute parody of chauvinism.

A surprisingly catchy tune about getting tested for HIV/AIDS.

GRRRRRRRRRRR Why was Larissa Lai’s book Salt Fish Girl made into a play in another country TWO YEARS AGO? WTF, over.

(squealpoint) Larissa Lai! She taught a weekend course in science fiction literature that was the single best English-Lit class I’ve ever been in. It spoiled me for every genre fiction class afterwards. Seriously. I later dropped out of a fantasy fiction course after one week because it was not nearly as awesome as Larissa Lai’s science fiction class was.

Um, correct me if I’m wrong, but wasn’t Lilithfair all about (largely) folk-pop women performers with something meaninful to say? I assume Sarah McLachlan, Paula Cole, Shaun Colvin etc had nothing to do with the 2010 anniversary if they took on Ke$ha as a performer?
