Rock of Love: Charm School
This is less of a review than a “The concept itself is insulting, so I will pass judgment on it having seen only a couple of YouTube bits of the original series and a single episode of this new one” …

Joan of Arcadia: Bringeth It On
Joan of Arcadia was a series on CBS for two seasons a few year back which I absolutely loved, and Sci-Fi has recently started showing reruns. It centers on a teenage …

Macy*s “Gifts for Women” Commercial
I spend a lot of time watching the Food Network, and spending time on any basic cable station leads to seeing ads of… let’s say “variable” quality. Lately, Food Network has started showing holiday themed ads sponsored by Macy’s, listing …

Torchwood: Gwen Cooper
As a fan of both procedural dramas and a sci-fi geek, Torchwood is practically the perfect show for me. And it comes with the super duper bonus of a lead character who is female and manages to be both strong …

Pushing Daisies: Three Plum Pie
I’m not a huge fan of romance on television. Mainly because it’s usually used as an excuse for someone involved to act like a moron (it tends to be the women), or it’s one character’s sole reason for existence (also …

[Prison Break Primer in 100 words or less, because I know it's not everyone's cup of tea: Season 1 was about Michael breaking his brother Lincoln out of prison because Lincoln was set to be executed for a murder he ...

Friday Night Lights- Lyla Garrity
When I started writing about Friday Night Lights, I knew at some point I’d have to say something about Lyla Garrity- she’s one of the most prominent female characters in the show. I kept putting it off, because I didn’t …

Bionic Woman
*Spoilers behind the jump for the pilot of Bionic Woman, premiering September 26th on NBC at 9pm.*
In the re-imagining of Bionic Woman Jaime Sommers (Michelle Ryan) is a bartender raising her teenaged sister Becca, when she and her boyfriend Will are involved in a horrible car crash. Her injuries should have been fatal, but luckily in addition to being a professor Will is a surgeon involved in biomedical research and arranges for her to undergo a process that leaves her with bionic legs, right arm, eye, and ear replacements, as well as replacing part of her blood with “anthrocytes” that allow her to heal rapidly.

Big Brother 8
It might seem a little melodramatic, but I think Big Brother this season is an excellent example of the 5 stages of grief in a compressed, reality tv show time frame:
1. Denial- This cannot be happening. How did they even find this many truly awful people?
2. Anger- This is horrible, and I kind of want to smack everyone involved.
3. Bargaining- Please, just don’t let Dick or Daniele win. Please. I’ll stop expecting anyone with a shred of decency to be on this show, I promise.
4. Depression- If the producers don’t want to do anything, what can you do?
5. Acceptance- Daniele’s going to win, and no one can stop it. Whatever. When’s Survivor coming back?
It looks like the powers that be over at Big Brother this year will be getting their wish- it’s been fairly apparent since the beginning that they were pushing for a Dick/Daniele final two, and it seems that everything’s in order to make that happen. So rather than wait until the inevitable happens, I thought I’d beat the rush and go on the record now with a rather startling conclusion I’ve come to: Dick isn’t the most awful person on the show this season. Daniele is.

Verizon Commercial
I really don’t need to spend a lot of time pulling this Verizon commercial to pieces, but sometimes a target makes itself nice and big, and then just to make it irresistible they throw a giant pile of hypocrisy …
