2) Cordelia Vorkosigan–Logical, decisive, and can manage a spaceship crewed by individualists. Very good at keeping our group together.

3) Molly Weasley. She could use the vacation, and not only can she take down Mad Bellatrix, but we’d eat like queens for the whole trip. And she’d probably knit us all jumpers somehow during the trip (and give the bad guy made from Devil’s Snare–then turn out the lights).

Because every team needs a healer, and her ability to read minds would come in handy too, not to mention the ability to teleport bad guys a long way away.

Pyanfar Chanur from the CJ Cherryh series about the Chanurs. Her species (the han) evolved from something like a lion, has her own starship, has great morals and business-sense, is fiercely protective over her crew without babying them, she’s smart, proud, forward thinking and kind.

Sergeant Angua from Discworld, sees things as they are in stead of what she would like them to be, is strong, loyal, smart and has a great sense of smell.

Moya from Farscape, who is arguably the most awesome character ever. A loving mother-figure who puts the needs of her crew above her own (most of the time) but makes her own needs clear as well.

Warrior: Brienne of Tarth.Her skill with a sword is matched by very, very few people, and she’s a very cunning and resourceful tactician.I’d take her over anyone else in Westeros, man or woman.

I already chose Brienne as one of my bodyguards, but I’d also take her on the quest, or the deserted island. Hell, I’d take Brienne with me for my next trip to Starbuck’s, if I could. There’s just no scenario imaginable in life in which one would not benefit from having a friend like Brienne at their side.

Eowyn from Lord of the Rings – “No man can defeat me.” “I AM NO MAN!” Stabbity. Put aside her facination with Aragon for a moment. She gets told to stay at home and her response is to strap on armor, smuggle in a hobbit, and ride with the army anyway, and by doing so fill a ‘no one can kill this guy till these conditions are met’ prophecy.

Donna Noble from Doctor Who – My favorite of the ‘new who’ companions. If anyone could get the other two to work together, much less with me, it’s be her. She has no powers, no special skill, a very brash personality, and more heart than you can shake a stick at. The other two are the physical powerhouses, Donna’s the one who’ll keep the quest going when you need to think around corners.

Rogue: Tiphaine d’Ath from S.M. Stirling’s Emberverse series. She’s the best there is at unconventional warfare, and she’s plenty capable in a stand-up fight. She also knows how to play the game of intrigue–you never know when you need skills like that.

Mage: Hermione Granger. She can be relied upon to keep a cool head in a crisis, the better to use her staggering array of magical skills and knowledge. She can also fill the healing role in a pinch.

Agent Bering from Warehouse 13 because she has read every book in the world and would pick up on clues and references.

Tiffany Aching from Discworld because she has sheer determination and practicality plus great instincts.
