Fishing with Meg

Earlier this week on As the World Turns, a scene between Meg Snyder and Paul Ryan made me smile. Meg and Paul went out on a picnic date out on a lake. Paul surprised her with a fishing pole, recalling hearing that the lake was one of her favorite spots growing up.

Just one fishing pole, however. Paul has no idea how to fish. He doesn’t get how to bait a hook. His appearance as a sheltered rich man is very obvious in this scene. But disregarding class, what I loved about this was Meg showing him how to bait a hook and how to cast a reel.

How refreshing to see the woman being the one that has something to teach the man, particularly something that is stereotyped as male knowledge!
