Duh, It’s All About the Guys
A recent episode of Grey’s Anatomy had me chuckling. In it, Meredith’s stuck in a typically trite love triangle between Derek, a married man who routinely broke her heart, and Fin, a vet who obviously adored her and forgave an indiscretion with Derek. (Why she felt she needed to make a choice was beyond me, but that’s another post.) She decided to help her decide, she’s going to date both of them.
Derek and Fin immediately see this as a competition … READ MORE

In Theory, I Don’t Mind Meredith Grey…
I don’t mind that Meredith Grey from Grey’s Anatomy has daddy issues, and indulges in emotionally void sex with men whose names she can’t remember. I don’t mind that her friends keep better track of the men in her life than she could. I’ve met women in real life who do that.
I don’t mind that she decides to fall in love with one of those men, then refuses to get over it when it turns out he’s married, continue to … READ MORE

How To Have a Woman Sleeping With Her Boss Without Demeaning Her: Christina and Preston from Grey’s Anatomy
Note: I wrote this mid-s2. I haven’t seen much of s3, but I understand the dynamic changed somewhat in s3.
The biggest thing I love about Grey’s Anatomy is the relationship between Christina Yang and Preston Burke. He’s her boss, but they’re equals in the relationship, something as refreshing as it is rare. So, in no particular order, here’s Scarlett’s guide on How To Have a Woman Sleeping With Her Boss Without Demeaning Her.
- Have her swear him to secrecy over their … READ MORE

True Colours
The latest episodes of Grey’s Anatomy has got me up in arms. Before I go on, I should note to new readers, I’m actually quite a fan of the show, if only they could get rid of the sad, stereotyped characters of Meredith Grey and Derek Sheppard. Every other character is the reason I watch this show; Meri and Derek are pathetic.
Basically, the man Addison Sheppard cheated with, Mark, shows up. Derek doesn’t take too well to seeing his rival, … READ MORE

A Tale of Three Weddings
Season/series finale season is upon us, which means that many shows that focus on relationships are ending off with proposals and weddings. Last week, I watched the penultimate episodes of three shows that included marriage themes, two of which led to nothing but eye rolls and the final which gets only half points.
Case study #1: Gilmore Girls. Though I must admit that this week’s series finale was actually very, very good the preceding episode was…not. Logan officially lost any points … READ MORE

Peripheral vs Central
A few days ago, I saw my very first episode of Grey’s Anatomy, from early in the second season. And I was struck by the difference between how I found Meredith Grey’s story, and the patient of the week’s.
The patient is Bonnie and she’s in a train crash, in which she and another passenger (Tom) have a metal pole rammed through them, so they’re pushed together face to face. The doctors can’t treat either one without sliding one … READ MORE

What I LIKE About Grey’s Anatomy…
A few weeks ago I wrote about how I REALLY hated the titular character of Grey’s Anatomy and they shipping that went along with it. I should add, though, that the show has a lot of characters I really like, which gives the show a lot of potential, if only they’d give up on Meredith Grey and that horrible, philandering ship.
Firstly, we have my favourite character, Christina Yang. Christina is equally intelligent and ambitious, as well as pragmatic and cynical. … READ MORE

Grey’s Anatomy
This article was meant to be published in a few months, but the discussion about infidelity being justifed if it’s your True Love (here, here and here) made me think it was worth bumping up.
I’ve been watching Grey’s Anatomy lately, and am just about to change channels on account that the shippers have grabbed this show by the teeth and are refusing to let go.
I should note, that GA has some good characters, and one day I’ll get … READ MORE
