And now for something completely different. This is just too funny not to share: it’s a farce of a 1950′s film strip teaching women about their intellectual limitations. If you’re unable to hear the voiceover, the narrator describes how the men are trading witty remarks and the women look so pretty! And then the conversation turns to something serious: one of the men says they should drop the gold standard, and another agrees. Then the woman offers a genuine insight, and everyone looks deeply shamed. The men seethe at her, then one of them grabs her by the arm and drags her out of the room.
Then they explain with visual aids how information is neatly stored in male brains, but female brains start to scramble with even a reasonable amount of education, leading to ugliness, premature aging, obesity and beard growth*. Then the gold standard conversation happens again, and this time the woman’s big insight is that she likes kittens because they’re soft.
It’s really hysterical. It’s also alarmingly close to some of the “home ec” filmstrips women in my mother’s generation saw in school.
*Thanks for the catch, Patrick.

The “beard growth” is the crowning touch, I think.

Ah, yes! I forgot that one. Thank you – I’ve edited the post to put it in there now.

I wish I could grow a beard at will. I wouldn’t want a long one, but the stubble could be cool.

I guess you just aren’t educated enough yet.

It says the video has been removed due to terms of service violation. There’s another version here.
This was from a mid-nineties sketch show called Harry Enfield and Chums and they did a whole series of these information film spoofs. I seem to remember one demonstrating why women shouldn’t drive. Couldn’t find that one on YouTube but here’s another about finding a husband.

Thanks! I’ve edited the link – and the other one you linked to is funny, too.

The narrator sounds like Charles “Where’s Your Neck” Gray from Rocky Horror Picture Show.
